In just a few days we’ll celebrate this special holiday with family and friends. What would be the best gift of all for you?
I’m asking about more than presents under the tree, I’m asking about the things money can’t buy. Of all the things that money can’t buy, what would you say would be the very best gift of all for you?
If you will take the time to write back to me and let me know your answer, I’d like to say a prayer for you.
Most of you have probably seen the movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” I watch it every year and it’s just as inspiring to me every single time. Here are some famous quotes from the movie to think about as you reflect on your life this year:
Clarence the angel: “You see George, you’ve really had a wonderful life. Don’t you see what a mistake it would be to throw it all away?”
Clarence: “Strange isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives. When he isn’t around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?”
Pa Bailey: “All you can take with you is what you’ve given away.”
Clarence: “Remember George, no man is a failure who has friends!”
George: “Dear Father in heaven, I’m not a praying man, but if you’re up there and you can hear me, show me the way…show me the way.”
Especially when life is difficult and we experience suffering it’s easy to give in to the kinds of thoughts and feelings George Bailey was experiencing.
Your life touches so many other lives! A life well-lived doesn’t mean a problem free life. It’s a life lived serving others with your God-given gifts, talents and personality rain or shine. All the little things we do add up to a lot! In the wise words of a well known saint:
“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.” – Mother Teresa
When we show up and give our best day in and day out, we are living life fully alive. That’s my hope and prayer for you this year!
I’m attaching a gift for you below that I received from one of my mentors, Dan Miller. It’s a simple but thorough goal-setting worksheet. I hope you’ll take a look at it and use it as you look forward to 2019. I use it prayerfully, intentionally and with flexibility.
I will write again soon, probably after Jan. 1, 2019, unless I get an inspiration and have to sit down and write about it!
Have a wonderful Christmas, full of all kinds of gifts, those that money can’t buy as well as some really nice ones that it can!😍
With love and a prayer for you,
Live Life Fully Alive!
