Dear Friends,

This verse of Scripture has been showing up everywhere it seems – and when that happens I know I need to pay attention. The Message version of the Bible says it incredible well:

“All around us we observe a pregnant creation. The difficult times of pain throughout the world are simply birth pangs. But it’s not only around us; it’s within us. The Spirit of God is arousing us within. We’re also feeling the birth pangs. These sterile and barren bodies of ours are yearning for full deliverance. That is why waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. We, of course, don’t see what is enlarging us. But the longer we wait, the larger we become, and the more joyful our expectancy.” Romans 8:22-25 MSG

Do you wonder what the waiting period we have been in and are still in is all about? Have you ‘been there’ before? Waiting for promotion, waiting for a relationship, waiting for resolution, waiting for breakthrough, waiting, waiting, waiting and more waiting!

We live in a time and place where the waiting times have been greatly shortened. If you have to wait 5 or 10 minutes for something you get an apology! “So sorry for your wait, Ma’am!” In this day and time, CONVENIENCE IS KING.

There’s a bit of a problem with that, wouldn’t you say?

When you look at nature, nothing has changed. It still takes 9 months (or thereabouts) for a baby to grow in mama’s womb and be born. It still takes weeks, months or even years for seeds that are planted to grow into full maturity.

When I think of this contrast I’m thinking to myself, “Perhaps our expectations need to be adjusted!”

Perhaps we are created to wait in the same way nature does – ORGANICALLY!

What would you say is being enlarged within you during this time of waiting?

For me it’s deeper connection with God, deeper appreciation of people, patience with inconveniences, noticing the small things, enjoying creation, simple pleasures, gratitude, faith, hope, love.

I’d love to hear what’s being enlarged in you as you wait.

The wait is meant to make you greater. It is preparing you to birth LIFE.

Warmly,

Terri
